Premium ice-cream and gelato manufacturer Gelista has continued the expansion of its distribution footprint with the appointment of specialty food distributor Deluxe Foods QLD as exclusive distributor through the state of Queensland.
The appointment is the third new interstate distributor for the Adelaide based company since launching it highly successful 570ml Gelista Jar consumer range. Deluxe Foods will join EuroStore Australia, announced exclusive distributor in Victoria in April, and Blue Cow Australia, announced exclusive distributor in Western Australia in May.
“It is entirely appropriate that our newest distributor is Deluxe Foods as we have both identified growing consumer demand for deluxe specialty foods, produced by artisan producers and offering an authentic food experience”, says Peter Cox, Managing Director of Gelista. “Ice-cream and gelato are often used as a treat or in entertaining. These are the times consumers don’t want to compromise and are looking for an absolute premium product. As their name suggests, Deluxe Foods has an exceptional track record of success in this market”.
Deluxe Foods sources and distributes the very best food products from across Australia as well as from some fantastic food manufacturers and growers from overseas. It has invested in developing close relationships with boutique producers that make products of exceptional quality for the premium food market. The Deluxe Foods range includes a broad range of products as diverse as cheese, smallgoods, oils, olives, grocery and seafood right through to pastry and desserts.
Deluxe Foods is a fully independent, privately owned Australian company. It services both retail and food service customers. It will facilitate the distribution of the 570ml Gelista Consumer Jar range through quality food retailers in Queensland and will take the uncompromising Gelista food service offering to leading restaurants and premium cafes.
“We are delighted to be working with Gelista,” says Nick Ryan, Director of Deluxe Foods. “We saw an immediate synergy with Gelista. Their commitment to using premium and distinctive ingredients and their crafting techniques deliver a taste and texture that is exactly suited to the premium food market.”
Queensland has a huge and important tourism industry which is services by a large number of premium restaurants and eating establishments. For this reason Gelista believes that the food service market represents a significant opportunity. However, Peter Cox goes on to explain that the retail opportunity is still a key focus.
“We built our reputation making base icecream and gelati for leading celebrity chefs. They used these as the foundation for their extravagant desserts”, Cox explains. “What we have become known for recently is that the same quality product is available for the consumer in a 570ml Jar. People know it and they want it. So we want people in Queensland to be able to have access to the 570ml Gelista Jar as well as visitors to this wonderful tourism state”.
Gelista products will become available from premium Queensland retail outlets and independent supermarkets over the coming months.
